Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations associated with the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions can vary depending on the vehicle type, with possible additional fees for drivers under 25. You must possess a valid, full driving license suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Goole office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle should be returned with a fuel level that matches the level at the time of collection; refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please notify us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be held accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges accrued during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance as standard. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available, which can help lower your financial responsibility. Review these options closely. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms is your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation Policy and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice given. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Prohibited uses include racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous operations. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should be used only for its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Any travel outside the agreed geographical limits requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our overall liability for any claim is capped at the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limit does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that region.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
